Hinds Instruments is a growing high technology company located in Hillsboro, Oregon, 15 miles west of Portland. Founded in 1971, we have grown to become the world's leading supplier of photoelastic modulators (PEMs). Our continuing mission is the development of new PEMs and systems designed to meet the increasing need for more sensitive measurements in light polarization, in basic research as well as industrial process monitoring and analysis.
We are organized into four teams: technical/engineering, sales & marketing, manufacturing, and finance & administration. Led by our technical team, who have over 65 years combined experience in photoelastic modulation technology, we have introduced a number of notable advances in recent years and months. Development facilities include a well-instrumented engineering lab, an applications spectroscopy lab and CAD resources for electrical, mechanical and optical design work.
Hinds manufacturing team concentrates on in-house production of core technology modules, as well as on final test and calibration and quality management. Our production processes incorporate SPC monitoring and conform to IPC/II standards.
We maintain an active, ongoing involvement in scientific, technical, and industry conferences worldwide, presenting technical papers, exhibiting new models and systems, and participating in symposia. Our technical sales and marketing group is available for consultation and collaboration. A seasoned network of international representatives provides sales and service support in Europe, the Pacific Rim and other areas.
The company is now in its second generation of management and ownership.
